About Bansko
The town of Bansko is situated in the beautiful Pirin Mountains and is best reached from Sofia airport. Bansko likes to promote itself as a resort for all seasons although it is undoubtedly busier in the winter as a top class ski-resort.
In the spring and summer Bansko has a wonderful sunny climate with lovely fresh mountain air. All summer time mountain activities are available such as mountain biking and hiking. If you still crave for the beach then Kavava on the Greek coast is only an hour and a half away by car. There you will find unspoilt beaches and remember its possible to do this as a day trip from Bansko. If thats too adventurous for you then there are many nice places nearer at hand that our apartment would make an ideal base to travel from. The famous Rila Monastery, the bear nature reserve, spa towns, to name but a few.
Bansko itself has over 100 restaurants ranging from traditional Mehanas to pizza places and steak houses. There is also an ice-rink and 2 bowling alleys.
In winter you will enjoy spending time on the mountain – Alberto Tombo the famous skier said that Bansko was the best ski-resort in Eastern Europe. It boasts over 65km of runs suitable for all classes of skier. The great thing about Bansko is that the development is relatively new and so the gondola and ski-lifts are more modern than many found in the more traditional Alpine ski resorts who have been on the go for a lot longer. The slopes are well maintained and well developed.
