Bulgaria will join the EC in January 2007 and it is expected that budget airlines such as Easy Jet and Ryan Air will eventually open some new routes to Bulgaria.
At present though, there are many good deals to be had with charter companies during the season.
Scheduled services operate year round, but tend to be a bit more expensive.
One of the best ways to find out about flights is to look on the airports own website eg Glasgow or Manchester. They all show which airlines operate to your destination and also indicate the timetable.
Remember that taking a train or car ride to another UK airport may be well worth your while if it means saving a few hundred pounds!
Bourgas – Airport code BOJ is the most convenient airport to fly to for guests staying at either of our apartments, as it offers a transfer time of less than half an hour.
Varna is not out of the question either, but it does involve a transfer time in excess of 2 hours.Scheduled flights run to Bulgaria all year, although Varna would be the main airport to fly to with airlines such as Bulgaria Air, Malev (The Hungarian airline) and Austrian Airlines. www.austrian.com.
If you are an adventurous traveller, these scheduled services offer that bit more flexibility, for example a stop-off in Prague or Budapest en-route would certainly enrich your holiday experience! Also if you want to stay an odd number of days which a charter may not offer, then a schedule is for you.
